Pramuka Island Infrastructure Upgrades Enter Survey Phase

The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has hit the ground running with a field survey for a planned access road and coastal embankment on Pramuka Island.

This project is a bottom-up initiative

SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab confirmed that the inspection focused on a proposed 70-meter road located near the Tanjung Elang RPTRA.

The survey also focused on the planned sea wall, a crucial move to keep coastal erosion at bay. He noted that this preliminary assessment is just the first step in turning resident feedback into reality.

"This project is a bottom-up initiative, stemming from proposals voiced by the community through the Village Consultative Council (LMK)," he stated, Friday (1/16).

He clarified that since the designated land falls under the purview of the Transportation Sub-agency, all agencies must join forces to move the project forward.

"These field findings will serve as our blueprint for inter-agency talks, ensuring all technical aspects are squared away before we begin development on Pramuka Island," he explained.

Panggang Island Urban Village Head, Jamaluddin highlighted that the new road and sea wall are the lifeblood of the local fishing community, especially for the heavy lifting of docking and unloading their daily catch.

"We are relieved to see the ball rolling with this field survey. Our hope is for a clear roadmap that leads directly to the construction phase," he explained.

He added that the sea wall serves a double-duty: fueling local economic growth while acting as a shield against coastal encroachment.

Local fisherman, Jeri (42) echoed this sentiment, noting that proper access is a game-changer for their daily grind.

"Right now, docking is an uphill climb, especially during low tide or when the weather takes a turn for the worse. We're counting on the SDA Sub-agency to smooth the way for a safer and more reliable harbor," he stated.
